About Chris Staefe
Chris Staefe’s creative journey is as multifaceted as the stories he tells. With a B.M. in Music Composition and Conducting, an M.A. in Music Composition with an emphasis on Electronic Music, and years of doctoral work pushing the boundaries of sound, Chris spent his early career weaving narratives through music. His compositions earned international acclaim, including awards like second place in the 2003 ASCAP/SEAMUS Composition Competition and the Digital Music Award in Keio, Japan.
But Chris’s storytelling extends far beyond music. For years, he performed as a professional fire dancer and acrobat in Las Vegas, combining artistry and danger to captivate audiences. From the elegance of poi and fire staff to the precision of hand balancing, his performances brought visceral storytelling to life, creating an intimate connection between performer and audience. This dynamic experience in movement and performance deeply informs his writing, infusing his narratives with tension, rhythm, and spectacle.
Now an author, Chris brings his eclectic background into the world of supernatural thrillers, crafting stories that pulse with atmosphere and emotion. Drawing on the discipline of a composer and the immediacy of a performer, his novels explore the edges of humanity and the shadows that shape our choices. Whether he’s writing about ancient curses or modern betrayals, Chris’s work embodies the transformative power of storytelling across every medium.
